Continuing our April celebration of Garlic, we've got a recipe that uses garlic in a most surprising way!
If you haven't had the chance to try black garlic yet you are in for a taste adventure. Lacking the sharp bite of fresh cloves, these sticky, almost date-like black cloves have a deeply sweet and earthy flavor that melds surprisingly well with citrus and a good dark rum. Shout out to Wine Enthusiast for the inspiration for the drink we can't get enough of this spring!
Ingredients
1.5 oz dark rum
1 orange slice cut in half
3 basil leaves
1 oz black garlic simple syrup - see below
Club soda
Method
Muddle basil and half an orange slice in the bottom of a glass filled with ice. Add your black garlic syrup and rum. Stir, and top with soda water as desired. Garnish with orange and basil.
Black garlic simple syrup

½ cup sugar

3 cloves black garlic
2 tablespoons Fire Cider Honey-Free

Place sliced ginger in water and bring to a boil, add in sugar and stir until it dissolves.
Remove the ginger and pour the remaining syrup into a blender with garlic, blend on med until the garlic is finely ground (a large mason jar and stick blender work well here!).
