How to Fill the Fall Sports Get-Together Void

How to Fill the Fall Sports Get-Together Void

Even if you're not a big football fan, Fall sports have always given us an excuse to gather with friends and family for drinks, food, and and shared interests. Though hosting or attending these typical living-room-gatherings isn't exactly encouraged right now, that doesn't mean you can't have a modified version of normalcy!

Around our office (or Zoom meetings, for a good portion of us), we brainstormed some ideas on how to modify these get-togethers for our current circumstances, trying to keep things as normal (yet safe) as possible.

1 - Zoom/Facetime/Phone a friend or two!

We'll be the first to admit that the whole video-chatting thing is getting a little tiring. We have to do it for work, doctor's appointments, and other non-fun things, so it's usually the last thing we want to be doing in our spare time. But right now, it really is the ideal alternative for spending time in-person with other people!

2 - Head out to local sports & little league games.

Obviously we want to stress the importance of mask-wearing and social distancing here, but many of these leagues are still having games, and it's an easy and entertaining opportunity for a few hours out of the house. Invite a few friends and space out your lawn chairs, and enjoy some good, old-fashioned local sports. Plus, you'll be helping to support local kids & athletes!

3 - Grab the kids (or dog, or spouse, or whomever!) and start up your own backyard tournament.

A little fresh air and exercise is good for all of us! It can help improve your mood, your outlook on the current situation, and your relationships with those closest to you! Whether you choose to play baseball, soccer, football, or even just toss a ball or frisbee, you'll never regret spending some time outdoors. Maybe you'll inspire your neighbors to do the same, and you'll start a neighborhood trend!
